Can you Install Rope Lighting on Your Deck and/or Dock?

CAN you Install Rope Lighting on Your Deck and/or Docks?  YES – For years we’ve had rope lights on our dock that began with decorating the deck and dock area during the holidays.  They’re easy to install, fairly inexpensive and put off just the right amount of lighting.

More Boat Cleaning Tips

Here are a few good tips for cleaning and keeping your boat looking like new!

  1. Choose the Right Cleaning Equipment - Ensure you have the right tools and materials for the job.  Choose brushes that are sturdy and will get the job done, yet soft enough not to damage the finish.
  2. Select a Good, Environmentally-Friendly Soap - For marine use, you’ll want to select a soap that will be tough on dirt, grime, and salt, yet easy on the environment.  Select an effective, biodegradable cleaning agent with a neutral pH factor.  Be aware that certain "super concentrated" detergents may not be suitable for your boat, as these cleansers can strip away and damage finishes when left on for extended periods of time.
  3. Lather it Up - Before you think about applying any cleaning agents or touching the hull with a scrub brush, make sure you rinse the entire boat off completely. Whatever you do, never scrub a dry boat or you will risk damaging the finish or gel coat.  Lather up with a sponge soaked in the soapy solution, scrub, and rinse sections of your boat at a time.
  4. Soak Things Up - Use soft drying cloths that are highly absorbent and will soak up water without stripping or scratching. Chamois cloths or drying mops made of chamois material are good choices. To avoid "spotting," be sure to dry off your boat immediately after washing and rinsing.

Boat Cleaning Tips

When it comes to cleaning boats, we all seem to have our own techniques but we all have the same goal in mind. We want our interiors to be free of mildew and we want to clean our vinyl cushions without damaging the surface.

I found this tip for cleaning your Vinyl Upholstery:

Once the upholstery is free of dirt and grime, apply a light film of spray-on furniture polish and wipe with a clean cloth. This should help guard against stains and preserve the life of your boat’s upholstery.

Has anyone ever heard of this and/or tried it?  I'm curious on how it worked - so please share your thoughts if you have.

More ways to use Sand Anchors

Simply screw the Sand Anchor into the ground and attach your mooring line. Don't be confused by the affordable price of Sand Anchors, the combination of the design and steel construction gives you years of worry-free anchoring.  Works effectively in sand, clay, dirt or mud.

Q. How do I set my Sand Anchor?
Turn the handle of the Sand Anchor clockwise into the sand, dirt, clay or mud. The anchor will “screw” securely into the ground.

Q. How deep should I set my sand anchor into the ground?
You should set your Sand Anchor as deep as you need to go to have a solid hold in the ground.

Anchoring in the Sand

Living in Florida we have many different bodies of water to boat in.  Between our creeks, river banks and ocean shore it's great to just pull up, drop the anchor and watch the tide come and go.  For years we've struggled with anchors and anchor lines trying to keep our boats away from the shore yet ensuring the anchors were visible to those playing in the water.  Sand Anchors ideal for anchoring into the sand, dirt or mud.  Yet, I can't believe how many people have never tried using a Sand Anchor.

Here are some ways a Sand Anchor can be used.
